Wingman Weekend 2026 Event Details

August 20-23, 2026

  • Safety is number one.
  • Each hang gliding team will be comprised of a Wingman and three H2/H3 pilots. Each paragliding team will be comprised of a Wingman and three P2/P3 pilots.
  • Your Wingman will be a strong H3/P3 or H4/P4.
  • Wingman Weekend 2026 is a foot launch only competition. All participants must have a minimum of a H2 or P2 rating and their foot launch special skill sign off.
  • This is a mountain launch competition. If weather prevents mountain launches, we will move the day's task to the training hills. If that isn’t an option, then there will be clinics and seminars.
  • Flights will be scored on launch, duration, and landings. You will be scored on criteria including safe, well executed launches, thorough hang check/pre-flight inspections, your landing approach, your distance from the cone, and the length of your flight.
  • Scoring methodology and criteria will be clearly communicated and sent out to all participants.
  • Wingmen are here to help YOU, so only participants' flights will be scored.
  • Our safety and task committee will meet each morning prior to the pilot meeting to determine the day’s events. Each morning's pilot meeting will cover the days events and a weather briefing. This will also be posted at launch. We all know that conditions change and you have to be flexible in hang gliding and paragliding, but we will communicate any changes as quickly as possible via pilot meetings and WhatsApp groups.
  • Wingman Weekend registration is at the pro shop from 12:00 - 6:00pm EST on Thursday, August 20. Flying days will be Friday-Sunday, August 21-23. The award ceremony and pilot dinner will be Sunday evening. The schedule of events will be posted in detail.
