LMFP has been training pilots since 1978 and no other flight school can boast the resources we have at our disposal. Your first flights will happen just five feet off the ground on our training hills, situated a few miles down the road at the base of Georgia’s stunning Cloudland Canyon. As you progress – shoving your brain full of aerodynamics, micro-climatology and first-hand folk lore from the heydays of hang gliding – tandem flights with our expert instructors will give you ample airtime to learn how to control a glider at altitude. Once you’ve gotten your Hang 2 and cleared the Big Hill, you’ll be ready to take on our 1,400-foot radial mountain launch. Open year round, morning and evening “sled runs” off our ramp will help you refine your skills and give you the self-confidence and know-how to take to the skies and soar with the eagles!
With Lookout Mountain running for miles both north and south of us, ridge soaring opportunities abound, offering hours of flying fun for the experienced pilot! As your skills progress and you become inducted into the art of “thermal-hunting,” you’ll be able to reach cloudbase at two, four, eight, maybe even ten thousand feet above the ground! Pilots have flown off of our ramp and gone as far as Bowling Green, Kentucky and south of Atlanta!

EAGLE Hang Gliding Package
Looking for a new passion? Need some spice in your life? Hang gliding has no prejudice, we have trained both young and old, big and small. Hang gliding will invigorate you both mentally and physically and is quite simply the most affordable (and fun) form of aviation!
Our Eagle Package will take you from a fledgling to a USHPA-rated Hang 2 Novice pilot in as little as a week to ten days. You’ll progress from the Small Hill to the Big Hill, refining your launching and landing techniques, learning how to “flare” and work turns into your repertoire. Under our seasoned instructors’ supervision, you’ll learn the ins and outs of launching off our mountain ramp and your instructional tandems will give you the in-air confidence to make your flying dreams come true! Before you know it you will be an honest-to-goodness pilot with the skills and confidence to launch off our mountain into the wild blue yonder and fly fly fly!

HANG ONE Hang Gliding Package

Earn your Hang 1 and learn the basics of launching and landing a hang glider. HANG GLIDING Introductory Experience
Did you know that you could be a pilot? Been dreaming of flying like a bird? Spend a morning on our Training Hills and learn that you too can fly!
Learn the basics of launching and landing a hang glider with our Introductory Experience! You will be shown how to safely control a hang glider before getting up to five flights off our gorgeous bunny hills. Afterwards, you’ll put your skills to use while flying tandem to 1,500 or 3,000 feet!

AEROTOW VIP Hang Gliding Package
Live in the flat lands? Running off a mountain not for you but still want to soar? Our Aerotow VIP Program will get you flying like a champ!
It’s the VIP minus the footlaunch. Earn your Hang 2 and become a skilled solo aerotow pilot. Over the course of your fifteen instructional tandems (a $1,500 value!) you will develop the ability to confidently fly under tow and gain in-air experience coordinating turns and performing proper landing approaches.
